Career Jumpstart offers coaching to guide students through the first step in their career. As part of the support we provide, we process personal data. In this privacy statement, you can read about what personal data we process about you and how we use it.

Our privacy and cookie policy in brief

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. We therefore comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’). This means that we:

  • Clearly set out our purposes before we process your personal data, via this privacy and cookie policy.
  • Store as little personal data as possible, and only the data necessary for our purposes.
  • Seek your explicit consent to the processing of your personal data, should consent be required.
  • Take the necessary security measures to protect your personal data. We also impose these obligations on parties that process personal data on our behalf.
  • Respecting your rights, such as the right to access, rectify or erase your personal data processed by us.

For what purposes do we use your personal data?

We collect various categories of personal data from you. For each purpose, we set out below what data we collect from you, the legal basis on which we process this data, and how long it is retained. If you have any questions or would like to know exactly what information we hold about you, please contact us. Our contact details are at the bottom of this privacy statement.

Registration

If you wish to receive guidance or training through Career Jumpstart, we ask you to complete our registration form. We use this form to collect your personal data so that we can schedule an appointment with you and provide you with further information about training courses and coaching.

For this purpose, we process the following personal data:

  • assistance with finding an internship, graduation placement or job;
  • any further details regarding the request for assistance;
  • previously registered (yes/no);
  • first name and surname;
  • date of birth;
  • address;
  • personal email address;
  • telephone number (if applicable);
  • educational details;
  • start date of studies;
  • expected completion date (if applicable);
  • preferred language (Dutch/English);
  • how you found us.

We process your personal data to fulfil a task in the public interest, namely to provide guidance to candidates. We retain your personal data for 7 years from the date of registration.

The support process

We process your personal data in order to carry out your support programme and to provide you with the training and guidance you need. For example, by drawing up and storing progress reports.

To this end, we process the following personal data:

  • first name and surname;
  • date of birth;
  • address;
  • personal email address;
  • telephone number (if applicable);
  • educational details;
  • start date of studies;
  • expected completion date (if applicable);
  • preferred language (Dutch/English);
  • portfolio URL (if applicable);
  • whether you are registered in the target group register;
  • which official diagnoses you have shared with us;
  • CJS training courses you have completed;
  • details of your coaching needs and personal situation;
  • communication you have had with us (email, WhatsApp, meeting minutes);
  • details regarding your follow-up enquiries and progress.

We process your personal data in order to carry out a task in the public interest, namely providing guidance to candidates. We retain your personal data for 7 years from the date of registration.

Internal administration

We process your personal data for our internal administration. For example, to keep track of how many candidates we are coaching and for which field of study. This also includes operational administration, such as matching candidates with the right coach, scheduling, monitoring progress and determining the duration of the programme.

For this purpose, we process the following personal data:

  • first name and surname;
  • date of birth;
  • address;
  • personal email address;
  • telephone number;
  • educational details;
  • start date of studies;
  • expected end date (if applicable);
  • preferred language (Dutch/English);
  • CJS training courses attended;
  • details of your coaching enquiry;
  • details of your follow-up enquiries and progress;

We process this personal data to fulfil a task in the public interest, namely to provide guidance to candidates. We retain your personal data for 7 years from the date of registration.

Reports

We also process personal data in order to produce an annual report for our funders, i.e. the parties that finance our services. The purpose of this report is to provide insight into Career Jumpstart’s activities and results. We use only aggregated data for this report. Your personal data is linked only to a candidate code and not to your name or student number. The recipients of the report cannot therefore trace its contents back to you.

To this end, we process the following personal data:

  • candidate code;
  • course details;
  • start date and end date of the support process;
  • duration of the support process;
  • preferred language (Dutch/English);
  • CJS (group) training courses attended.

We process this personal data to fulfil our legitimate interest in being accountable to the parties that fund our services. We retain your personal data for 7 years from the date of registration.

Once your personal data has been incorporated into the report, it can no longer be traced back to you. Consequently, there is no retention period for the reports themselves.

Research

We also process personal data in order to carry out research. The aim of this research is to improve the quality and effectiveness of the support and training we provide. If you are registered with us, we will ask you whether you would like to take part in a research study. If you give your consent, we will process your email address and details of your support process so that we can send you the relevant questionnaire for the study.

For this purpose, we process the following personal data:

  • first name and surname;
  • personal email address;
  • preferred language (Dutch/English);
  • questionnaire responses.

Where possible, we will anonymise the responses to the questionnaire before they are used for the research.

We process this personal data because you have given your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time. Your personal data will then no longer be processed for the purposes of the research.

We will retain your personal data for 7 years from the date of registration.

Handling enquiries or complaints

We process your personal data in order to answer your enquiries or to handle your complaints.

For this purpose, we process the following personal data:

  • first name and surname;
  • telephone number;
  • personal email address;
  • Details of your enquiry or complaint;

We process this personal data because you have given us your consent to handle your enquiry or complaint. We retain your personal data for 7 years from the date of submission.

When might we share your personal data with third parties?

Career Jumpstart will only share your data with third parties where permitted under current legislation. We may provide your personal data to third parties because:

  • we have engaged them to process certain data;
  • we have a legal basis for doing so;
  • we are legally obliged to do so (for example, if the police request this in connection with a suspected offence).

How is your personal data protected?
The security of personal data is very important to us. We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the processing of personal data against loss and any form of unlawful processing (such as unauthorised access, damage, alteration or disclosure of personal data). We continually adapt our security measures and pay close attention to what could go wrong.

What are your privacy rights?

  • Right of access: you have the right to access the personal data we process about you.
  • Right to rectification: you have the right to correct or supplement the personal data we process about you if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Right to object: You may object to the processing of your personal data, including for direct marketing purposes.
  • Right to erasure: You may ask us to erase your personal data.
  • Right to withdraw consent: if you have given us consent to process your personal data, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
  • Right to data portability: where technically feasible, you have the right to have the personal data we process about you transferred to a third party.
  • Right to restriction of processing: in some cases, you may ask us to restrict the processing of your personal data (whether temporarily or otherwise).

 

When you make such a request, we may ask you to identify yourself. We will ask for certain details to ensure that you are the person to whom the personal data relates.

 

In principle, we will comply with your request within 30 days. This period may be extended for reasons relating to the specific data protection rights or the complexity of the request. Scope of application and amendments
This privacy statement applies exclusively to Career Jumpstart’s services and not to other websites accessible via our website. Should our services change, we will amend the privacy statement. You should therefore always check the date at the top of this document and check regularly for new versions.

Questions or complaints
If you have any questions or wish to make a complaint regarding the use of your personal data, please email Antoinette Littel ata.littel@fontys.nl . We will deal with every enquiry and complaint internally and keep you informed of our progress. If you feel that we are not assisting you appropriately, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority: the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
